The Greenbuild International Conference & Expo returned to San Diego this year as
the industry’s leading green building event featuring world-renowned keynotes, top CEU’s, education and networking. Envoy Technologies was front and center with a highly visible booth that was situated within eyesight of the front doors and allowed us to show off the brand new Polestar 2. Along with the eye catching car, we also had a prize wheel that participants could spin to win stylish, glass Polestar water bottles, Envoy sunglasses, air fresheners, electric car rides and more! We had a line at our booth almost the entire conference because so many attendees wanted to snap a picture with the Polestar or take a spin on the prize wheel.
We are proud to say that we were the only electric vehicle car-sharing company at the entire conference (if not the only car-sharing network.) We brought 3 electric cars to the Expo including the Polestar 2 and new Tesla Model S with yoke steering. Conference attendees loved checking out the new cars and a taking ride to experience the unique feeling of electric vehicles.
Architects, consultants, sustainability managers, designers, engineers, educators, real estate agents, and builders in the green building industry all came together for a week of networking, education, discovery and more. This event was one of the most educational, fresh and invigorating conferences to date.
It felt like a breath of fresh air being surrounded by industry leaders and innovators all with the same goal of providing sustainable, accessible, equitable, and healthier living standards across the globe.
Envoy works to reduce pollution and land development impacts from automobile use through our service of electric vehicle car-sharing. Green buildings can become more sustainable and receive LEED credits by providing building occupants access to a low-emitting or fuel-efficient vehicle-sharing program. According to U.S. Green Building Council, the following requirements must be met to receive vehicle sharing credits:
One low-emitting or fuel-efficient vehicle must be provided per 3% of FTE occupants, assuming that 1 shared vehicle can carry eight persons (i.e., 1 vehicle per 267 FTE occupants). For buildings with fewer than 267 FTE occupants, at least 1 low emitting or fuel-efficient vehicle must be provided.
A vehicle-sharing contract must be provided that has an agreement of at least two years.
The estimated number of customers served per vehicle must be supported by documentation.
A narrative explaining the vehicle-sharing program and its administration must be submitted.
Parking for low-emitting and fuel-efficient vehicles must be located in the nearest available spaces in the nearest available parking area. Provide a site plan or area map clearly highlighting the walking path from the parking area to the project site and noting the distance.
