Envoy and The City of Anaheim Public Utilities (APU) are proud to provide a new community resource - Envoy Electric Vehicle Ride Sharing at Pradera Apartments, a Related Property. This pilot program provides FREE limited and exclusive access to electric vehicles (EVs) for residents who live in multi-family affordable (MFA) housing developments in Anaheim, California.
The City of Anaheim Public Utilities (APU) program in coordination with Envoy Technologies provides residents with access to electric cars through community car share. Electric cars (EVs) are more cost efficient in comparison to a conventional vehicle powered solely by an internal combustion engine (ICE). However, owning or leasing a vehicle still requires paying insurance fees, car registration, maintenance, and parking space fees, etc. By having Envoy onsite at Pradera, residents are now able to drive an EV at no cost (up to a usage threshold). APU has provided rebates to offset the costs of two electric cars.
The two electric vehicles that are offered at no cost to residents are Nissan Leafs. These vehicles are great cars to navigate around the city with a mileage range up to 150 miles. Residents can travel safely knowing that their vehicles are fully charged because the property has also provides Blink charging stations onsite for the Envoy car sharing vehicles.
Pradera Apartments was designed by WHA as a sustainable “Build It Green” certified project, it also complies with the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for Federal assistance provided by HUD. In partnership with the Anaheim Redevelopment Agency and the Anaheim Housing Authority, Pradera Apartments is the largest affordable housing development for low- and very low-income families in Anaheim. Located on 4.21 acres near historic downtown Anaheim, Pradera is comprised of 146 two- and three-bedroom apartments with a community center complete with recreation area, open space, tot lots and a subterranean parking structure.
Providing access to electric car ride sharing transportation is a clean and sustainable way for residents to get to necessary doctor appointments, grocery stores, work, school, and other errands and essentials. This was the first Anaheim property to launch on this program and was followed shortly after by the senior living property, Miracle Terrace.
